"Working with Liz changed our family's life! Within 36 hours of being born, our son had lost 8 ounces and wasn't eating. The doctors at the hospital mentioned he may have a tongue tie, but didn't know much about it. His bilirubin continued to rise and I called Liz immediately. She confirmed that he had a tongue tie and then helped him latch well with the little movement he did have. Within 24 hours of seeing Liz, my son gained 5 ounces and his bilirubin went down! She then referred me to a dentist, a bodyworker and physical therapist to get his tongue revised and working properly. Without her, I am certain I would have given up breastfeeding altogether and would have had no idea what to do about my son's tongue. Now, at 6 months, my son's tongue is fully functional. He is still breastfeeding amazingly, and has started solids easily. Liz truly transformed what these first six months of motherhood have been like for me and has given me the confidence to breastfeed successfully in spite of great obstacles!" -- Kat T, Kansas City
"I am so thankful that I found Liz’s Lactation Services when I first came home from the hospital. I learned that my milk had not come in upon leaving, and the hospital did not offer any help or suggestions. Liz was able to help me get my supply built up and help my little one with his latching difficulties. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable and compassionate. As a first time emotional Mama, she coached me thru it until my baby and I were both comfortable with the nursing process. I highly recommend Liz and have already inquired about her services for baby number 2 that is on the way! " -- Jennifer S, Overland Park "As a first-time mom, I did not know much about breastfeeding. Liz provided my husband and me with valuable advice and what to expect when breastfeeding before our baby arrived. She came over to our home and gave us a detailed session on all aspects of breastfeeding. Once our little one arrived, Liz visited us in the hospital as well as our home and provided me with feedback and recommendations that had us latching and feeding correctly. One area where I was struggling was the way I held my little one to feed. Liz was extremely helpful in finding the best and most comfortable way for me to nurse my baby. Liz has always provided her support and encouragement through my breastfeeding journey. She truly understands the frustration and stress that can come with nursing and gives you the confidence that you can do it!! Her knowledge, passion, understanding and caring personality has been so wonderful and I am truly grateful for all she has done for me and my little one!" -- Sarah Z, Overland Park |
"My son was born 4 weeks early and we had breastfeeding challenges from the beginning: painful latch, marathon nursing sessions, and extremely slow weight gain. After countless visits with the hospital Lactation Consultants over several weeks without having any success, and me having to resort to exclusively pumping and supplementing, a family friend referred me to Liz Levy. Thank goodness! She came over to our home and took the time to evaluate us nursing and my son's mouth. As it turned out, Liz saw tongue, lip, and buccal ties. No other lactation consultant spotted that or even mentioned that that could be a part of our struggles! I was relieved to know that our breastfeeding challenges were something that could be addressed, as breastfeeding was extremely important to me and for my relationship with my son. Liz set us up with a top notch team so my son could have his ties revised. She always answered all of my questions and took so much time to walk us through the process. While the actual healing of the procedure was more emotional for me than I could have expected, Liz was there for me--taking my emails and phone calls even while she was out of town in order to support me emotionally and address any of my concerns over my son's healing. After a couple more home visits with Liz post revision, my son and I are enjoying an exclusively breastfeeding relationship--something I was so unsure could happen yet so deeply wanted--all because Liz Levy helped us and helped us get the proper care for my son. My bond with my son and his bond with me is so much deeper and profound now. It is so sacred to me to be able to nurse him and bond with him in this way. I knew I was working with a Lactation Consultant. I just didn't expect to get such an amazing cheerleader to go through this whole experience with us." -- Jennifer D, Leawood
"I have had the unique opportunity to observe Liz working with breastfeeding moms of sick babies in the NICU and well babies alike, including my own little girl. I struggled with a low milk supply and the moment Liz heard we were having issues she came over to my house to help, staying for multiple feedings. She was so patient, calm, supportive and professional and made sure to incorporate my goals for breastfeeding into our plan. It is very clear that she has a great passion for helping families and is 100% dedicated to helping moms reach their goals and optimize outcomes. Moreover, she is up-to-date on all the latest evidenced based research and practices. We will, without a doubt, be hiring Liz when we have our next baby as well- I can't say enough good things about our experience with her." --Shannon F, Leawood "Liz was so helpful, gracious, and kind - exactly what a new mom needs! I was worried about everything from latch to a growth spurt we were going through to whether my little one was "getting enough." Liz was so reassuring, so professional, and so knowledgeable; she was able to calm my fears, give me tips and strategies, and give me confidence in my ability to breastfeed successfully - all in one visit! I'm so grateful to have connected with her and would recommend her to anyone seeking help!" --Liz W, Holden |
